It should have made clear and obvious that sustained profitability and high financial turns are not enough to survive and remain successful in today's highly competitive markets because there Is considerable evidence of conflicts and misunderstandings caused by cultural differences. Therefore It Is sensual that firms need to understand their own and other firms' organizational culture and need to adjust their ways and traditions while conducting business with other firms, organizations or individuals with different cultural values. 1. Generally, in lay man terms, culture in an organization can be answered as simple as the way we do things here'. This defines the consistent way in which the tasks were reformed, conflicts were resolved and how customers and employees were treated. In a more articulate manner, an organizational culture can be defined as a core values that defined that particular organization itself. It comprised of its member shared values, behaviors, beliefs and teamwo rk that guide and determine the organization decisions and actions and how it behaves in the local as well international market. 1. 3 Why Does it Matter?In the context of whether it matters or not, an organizational culture is something that cannot be easily capture or define but at the same time it is not something that NY of the organization should take for granted. Take for example; the Japanese firms have strong Collaborate culture among themselves. They appreciate cohesion, loyalty, and group commitment, and therefore they operated more like families than a team. 2. 1. 4 Create (Autocracy) In this value matrix, they value flexibility and discretion however not to the extent of sharing the inward focus. Instead this culture focused on flexibility and adaptability.This is essential in thriving in the world that many would view as impossible. Their ability to capture market share has made them leaders in the marketplace and eliminating competition among the industry players. This applies in the case of the construction industry. All members work in a team and like a team.The Project Manager needs his subordinates to cooperate with him in order to get the project running and this applies to the subordinates as well. Like the prov erb goes â€Å"No man is an island†. Therefore, Malaysian construction industry sees this as an important elemental culture that should not be ignored. During the tenure of Tuna Dry Mathis Mohammad as the Malaysia's fourth premier way back in the asses, Dry Mathis has ladled for the citizens of Malaysia to practice the â€Å"Look East Policy'.He considered that the secret of Japanese success and its remarkable development lies in its labor ethics, morale, and management capability. For this purpose, Malaysia decided to dispatch their students to Japan, to study not only academics and technical know- how but also to learn labor ethics and discipline of the Japanese people. Week Three Learning Team Reflection

Why and how do we conduct business research? This week in Business Research topics were the purpose of business research; developing appropriate research questions and hypothesis, and identifying dependent and independent variables. Week three has given us a better understanding of how to conduct business research. There are several purposes for business research. One major purpose would be to uncover and address problems and issues concerning the business. Another purpose is to improve strategies and tactics of the business. With business research one could define the strategies, and tactics, monitor them, and refine them. Business research is also used to help increase the knowledge and understanding of the various fields of management (Cooper & Schindler, 2011). Developing the appropriate research questions and hypothesis is crucial in the research process as the well thought out questions will focus the researcher’s attention to the most pertinent aspects of the issue, opportunity or dilemma. Poorly defined questions may cause the research to go in misguided and irrelevant directions. Although there are many types of questions that management can pose during the research process, there are four basic categories of research questions contained in what is known as the management-research question hierarchy (Cooper & Schindler, 2011). These categorical questions are management, research, investigative, and measurement. Each will focus the researcher’s efforts onto a specific aspect of the dilemma. In research, a proposition is a statement made concerning an observable phenomena that can be deemed true or false. This proposition is the foundation of what will be formulated as the hypotheses of our research. The hypotheses are of a tentative and conjectural nature (Cooper & Schindler, 2011). In the hypotheses we assign variables to a given case. There are four types of hypotheses. They are descriptive, correlational, explanatory, and relational. The purpose of the hypotheses is to guide the study; identify relevant facts; suggest the appropriate style of research and provide a framework for organizing the conclusions. Finally, a strong hypothesis is adequate, testable, and better than its rivals. Researchers use variables when testing hypotheses. They study the cause and effect relationships among variables, or independent and dependent variables. The independent variable causes the effect of the dependent variable. Researchers typically manipulate the independent variable while monitoring its effect on the dependent variable. In this cause and effect study, the researcher will hypothesize how the independent variable affects the dependent variable. These cause and effect studies can conclude a multitude of effects, answering important questions related to business research. How can we increase productivity, sales, morale among employees, integrity, etc.? How can we reduce fraud, waste, loss, etc.? Exploration and the information gathered from it is often the primary contributing factor in effective business research. This week the learning team discussed objectives related to the purpose of business research. The team established that the purposes of business research include addressing problems and issues, improving strategies and tactics, and increasing knowledge and understanding. The team also conferred on the value of developing appropriate research questions and hypotheses, agreeing that appropriate research questions and hypothesis are crucial. Effectively defined questions can take research in a well-structured and relevant direction, and a strong hypothesis is valuable in establishing the substance and structure of the research. Finally, the team conferred on the use of independent and dependent variables in research. The team deduced that researchers can use the cause and effect relationship between the two types of variables – manipulating the independent variables to study the effect on the dependent variables – to their advantage in answering many business research questions.

(Figure 1) Figure 1 3.1.1Political factors: Since we are located here in the UAE, we have no taxation and this is one of the strength point we are depend on. but at the same time our administration team not recognizing that the minimum wages should be increased comparing with the other facilities and hospitals in our region as a big competitors. 3.1.2Economic: Economic factors include economic growth, interest rates, exchange rates and the inflation rate. These factors have major impacts on how businesses operate and make decisions. For example, interest rates affect a firms cost of capital and therefore to what extent a business grows and expands. Exchange rates affect the costs of exporting goods and the supply and price of imported goods in an economy. And since our organization as privet health care facility, based on the profit rate it takes in the consideration all these factors especially after it involved in the stock market last year. The services in the hospital is the same for all patients and the priority is only for the urgent and emergency cases only not according to the nationality, color or any other discrimination issues. And on the other side there is a special track for the VIP patients ,giving the best quality to be the first choice in the region as a privet hospital. 3.2 Micro Environment Analysis: One of the best tools for considering trends in the Micro environment is the porter analysis. (Figure 2) Figure 2 Porter five forces analysis is a framework for industry analysis and business strategy development. It draws upon industrial organization (IO) economics  to derive five forces that determine the competitive intensity and therefore attractiveness of a market. Attractiveness in this context refers to the overall industry profitability. An unattractive industry is one in which the combination of these five forces acts to drive down overall profitability. A very unattractive industry would be one approaching pure competition, in which available profits for all firms are driven to normal profit. This analysis is associated with its principal innovator Michael E. Three of Porters five forces refer to competition from external sources. The remainder are internal threats. 3.2.1 Threat of Substitute Products or Services: A substitute is a product that performs the same or similar function as another product. Microeconomics teaches that the more substitutes a product has, the demand for the product becomes more elastic. Elastic demand means increased consumer price sensitivity which equates to less certainty of profits. For example, public-transportation is a substitute for driving a car, and e-mail is a substitute for writing letters. The degree of rivalry in and industry is a function of a number of interacting structural features: Rivalry tends to intensify as the number of competitors increases and as they firms become more equal in size and capability. Market rivalry is usually stronger when demand for the product is growing slowly. Competition is more intense when rival firms are tempted to use price cuts or other marketing tactics to boost unit volume. Rivalry is stronger when the costs incurred by customers to switch their purchases from one brand to another are low. Market rivalry increases in proportion to the size of the payoff from a successful strategic move. Market rivalry tends to be more vigorous when it costs more to get out of a business than to stay in and compete. The same team also cooperating with the purchasing department together working to get the best quality materials for the lowest prices in order to minimize the costs. And that will allow the hospital to give more best services more than the other competitors. 3.2.5 Bargaining Power of Suppliers: The power balance between organization and supplier is similar to the relationship between organization and customer The organization becomes the customer and the producer of the inputs it requires are the suppliers Some small groups of suppliers may form cartels or cooperatives to increase their bargaining strength Suppliers use leverage such as threats to raise prices or reduce quantity or quality of goods they supply We are depending on the process comparison in the market and to services the suppliers will provide to us. In the opposite side, we are a customer for the suppliers and since we are the biggest customer in the privet sector we can manage the deal according to our needs. 3.3 Formulating: Formulating is phase one in the strategic planning process and according to  the diagram below We can see that it plays a very important in taking the best decisions and actions to achieve the objective of the organization. In our hospital there are many plans in how to make all these decisions become a real. At the beginning of each new year , we are making our plan projects for the next 12 months And everyone have to achieve his planed objectives as individual under the umbrella of the administration and corporate office objectives. Primary activities—which, for most firms involves inbound and outbound logistics, operations, sales and marketing—are supported by an infrastructure of underlying support activities, including HR, IT, and purchasing. How the product or service is ultimately developed and delivered to the customer depends on the effective interaction of these variable activities. The hospital value chain is diverse and complex. Our service offerings are far from clear cut, varying sharply between service lines. Each specialty and disease category has a distinct value chain to be flowcharted and analyzed prior to understanding where we can impact choice by creating value. In most cases this is at the physician referral point where patients make initial decisions. This may be a primary care physician or a specialty care physician who is directly involved in managing the hospital encounter. In most cases, it is the loyalty of the physicians and their attitude towards the hospital that determines the direction of the process. This analysis is a good tool for getting stakeholders on the same page. It helps focus planning efforts and gets to the key issue of where to go and what to do. This leads us to the question—what business are we in, and where do we strategically want to focus our efforts, which is the essence of strategy. Comparison on Computation Cost of the Cloud In this chapter, we list the comparison on computation cost of the cloud for file upload between †¦ and our scheme. Computational Cost Data access issues in the field of the cloud computing provide a good measurement-based performance as mentioned along this research, and hence, the security features can be improved using the new proposed model as well as a suitable computational cost. However, the proposed protocol provides these advantages and evaluates the performance based on computational cost and security requirements. The performance of our proposed scheme is evaluated using the existing experimental in [33] [34] [35] for a variety of cryptographic operations using MIRACLE [36] in PIV 3 GHZ processor with Windows XP operating system and 512 MB memory. The cloud receives the request and regenerates its own unique HMAC. The cloud compares the two HMACs, and, if theyre equal, the client is trusted and the request is executed. Delegation is effective when an organization functions well and every individual believe their part is vital to the well-being of the organization as a whole. Introduction: Pupilometry is the study of how a pupil reacts to different emotions and stimuli. The research on the topic of pupilometry is scattered and fairly shallow. Related research has been conducted on facial expressions and their reaction and relation to emotion. There are some relationships to the facial expression research and pupilometry, but these relationships do not tell the whole story. Some interest has been brought up through research in the field of pupilometry and its predictive powers on emotion. Pupilometry has to do with the dilation and contraction of the pupil relative to the stimulus or emotion being studied. In the early stages of pupil dilation research, there was intrigue as to the response of the pupil to emotional situations. That focus shifted toward information processing, and soon emotional studies were completely ignored. One emotional study that was done questioned whether pupil size change, as a response to seeing nudity, was a general indicator of arousal. Fifty women and fifty-seven men of the heterosexual college student variety, with a mean age of 21.4 years were studied. Results of that experiment indicated that pupils did dilate significantly more for nude test group than they did for the clothed group, regardless of the sex of the subject or the sex of the pictured person. It was the study’s conclusion that the pupils dilated because of the increased emotional presence of arousal (Aboyoun and Dabbs 1998). Often, the eyes are poetically quipped as â€Å"the window to your soul†, â€Å"mirror of you heart†, or â€Å"the gauges showing fleeting feelings and changes† (Whiteside 1974). It has been studied that facial expressions can be inhibited by cognitively trying to hide them. In a study by Ursula Hess and Robert E. Kleck, spontaneous vs. deliberate facial emotions were studied. It was concluded that people could deliberately control facial expression. Pupil reaction on the other hand is not controllable by cognitive means. The dilation and contraction of the pupils is an involuntary response based on reaction to stimulus and or emotion. Even if a person tried to hide their reaction to some stimulus physically, the size of the pupil could still be measured to observe a person’s reaction to a situation (Hess, U. and Kleck 1997). Eckhard Hess states in his book that normal reactions to the emotion â€Å"happy† should indicate significantly larger pupil size than the emotion â€Å"mad†. Frankenstein- Can Comfort Be F :: essays research papers

In the Romantic period of literature, nature was often associated with isolation in a positive way. Throughout the novel, Frankenstein: The Modern Prometheus, by Mary Shelley, there is a strong symbolic relationship between loneliness and nature. However, Shelley uses the relationship to show the negativity of being alone. The relationship of nature and loneliness is displayed through three characters in the story: Victor Frankenstein, his creature, and Robert Walton. At the times when the characters are alone and in need of companionship, they feel depressed, confused, and angry; they do not think clearly, and, consequently, they make wrong decisions. They seek refuge in nature, and try to use its beauty to find answers and to fill their void of friendship. Yet, none of the characters ever overcomes their bouts with loneliness because they never find true comfort in nature. Victor Frankenstein claims, “No human being could have passed a happier childhood than myself'; (Shelley, 19). His early life was filled with love and nurturing from his parents, his beautiful and adored companion Elizabeth, and his best friend Henry Clerval. However, after he leaves his home to continue his education at Ingolstadt, he remarks, “I, who had ever been surrounded by amiable companions, continually engaged in endeavoring to bestow mutual pleasure, I was now alone'; (Shelley, 25). Frankenstein no longer feels all the happiness he once felt when he was united with his family and friends. He alienates himself from others because he thinks he is “totally unfitted for the company of strangers'; (Shelley, 25). When Frankenstein is at Ingolstadt, he “has a void of the soul'; so profound that he subverts Nature to fill it (qtd. in Renfroe, 2). He conceives, “A new species would bless me as its creator and source; many happy and excellent natures would owe their being to me'; (Shelley, 32). Frankenstein decides to make a creature, to defy the powers of Nature and God -- a poor decision that ruins the rest of his life. When Victor finally succeeds in his quest to possess Nature, “horror and disgust'; fill his heart upon viewing his new creation (qtd. in Renfroe, 2). He sought companionship by capturing Nature and creating someone to honor him for giving them life; but it backfired and he sealed his fate to the wrath of his creature. When Victor Frankenstein is again separated from his beloved family and friends, this time by their deaths, he feels the pains of isolation.

A Tale of Two Cities

Every city is unique in its own way and has features that make it well-known and stand out from the rest. Each city is identified by something famous that can be seen in it. Dubai and Delhi are two cities that are known. The things to do, the nature and beauty, and level of development in Dubai and Delhi are quite different from each other. Dubai and Delhi have various things to do and places to go. Firstly, Delhi is a historical city with a lot of monuments from the 13th century A. D. Monuments such as the Kutub Minar, Red Fort which is a very old building made completely from spices and rock instead of cement, Parliament House which gives a glimpse of the British architecture. There is the well-known Connaught Place which is a shopping paradise as all the goods are low-priced. On the other hand, Dubai is a new city which was formed 40 years ago. The tallest building in the world resides in Dubai and it has various malls with several choices of shopping and very competitive prices because of no custom duty, therefore it is called the free port. Dubai also has the largest gold market in the world with tons of gold being displayed with minimal security. There are other activities such as dune bashing and deep see fishing. Dubai has a lot of sun throughout the year. Hence its white sandy beaches are quite popular with the citizens and tourists. Secondly, the nature and beauty of Delhi and Dubai are quite similar, from the exotic rose gardens and Mughal gardens to the River Yamuna flowing by the edges of Delhi. A lush green canopy of trees surrounds the entire city of Delhi. Likewise, Dubai has a lot of greenery with water bodies throughout the city. There are parks with all facilities such as play areas, barbeque pits and fountains. Both Delhi and Dubai have zoos with all sorts of animals to look out for. Furthermore, Dubai has 8 months of excellent weather extending from October to May. Whereas, Delhi has extreme weather, either it’s really hot or really cold. Lastly, the level of development in both cities has increased considerably over the years. The infrastructure is built to an A-class city level due to the Common Wealth games that were recently held. Delhi also has a very convenient metro system that connects to all parts of the city. Commuting from one are to another is quite effortless because of the auto rickshaws. The transport system runs on the CNG, therefore pollution levels have been reduced to a considerable level. Dubai has excellent infrastructure with wide roads and state of the art building. It is a new city that has been built to perfection in the last 10 years. Dubai also has a world class metro system with driverless trains connecting to all parts of Dubai and it is also connected to buses which are available at every corner of the street. Ferries also run for people wanting to cross the creek from Bur Dubai to Deira and back. In addition, the population of Delhi is very high. It is almost equal to the population of the whole of U. A. E. Therefore traffic is very high due to a large number of vehicles on the road. The traffic in Delhi is probably twenty times more than it is in Dubai. The crime rate in Dubai is very low and you can move around the city at 2 am without any fear as Dubai police is very efficient. This is not the case in Delhi. The crime rate is quite high and being out of the house after sunset is at your own risk. In conclusion, these two cities are very different from each other and at the same time share some similarities. A Tale of Two Cities A Tale of Two Cities is not just about the struggles of Paris and London, during the time of the French Revolution. It is also about the social injustice and the struggle for class vengeance. One character, Madame Defarge, is tied into all of this. This stern, bitter woman has a loathing monster in her soul. Towards the end of the book, the reader discovers why she is so resentful of the upper class. Nevertheless, in the beginning of the book the reader ascertains that Dickens takes a side; he considers the rebels little better than savages. Dickens frequently makes the connection that the anarchy of the mob in France could also occur in England. For example, at Rodger Cly's funeral, the mob raids shops and sets fire to various objects. Dickens subtly points out how this is also happening in France during the French Revolution, except in France it is at a much higher scale. When this was written, in 1859, Charles Dickens tries to warn England not to allow the chaos of France to come to England. Even though Dickens says the mob is wrong, he maintain that the uppercases treated the lower class as human at their disposal. The story of the Marquis' murder of Madame Defarge's brother and the rape of her sister describes how the aristocrats maltreated the peasants and how that is past of the struggle for justice. On a smaller scale, the killing of Gaspard's boy is yet again a social injustice to the commoners of France. The Marquis St. Evremonde has once more killed an innocent victim. The aristocrats have brought much pain, mental and physical, to the revolutionaries. Dickens, to show how cruel the aristocrats had been, has Monsiegneur momentarily stop and give the father a coin for the loss of his son. The working class of France was abused and demanded vengeance. But soon, paradoxically, the commoners are in charge. Social injustice again spreads, like a disease, to everyone. The tables are turned and now the criminals are the jailers and the jailers are the criminals. Even the innocent workers of the aristocrats are imprisoned. The lower class goes so far with vengeance that they lose sight of the main goal, to stopping injustice. Again the innocent are victimized, such as the poor woman behind Sydney Carton on his way to the La Guillotine. Furthermore, even those who disavow their family are punished. This is the situation of Charles Darnay who is being punished for his family crimes. Soon it is the aristocrats who are dealing with a class struggle of their own. At a glance, A Tale of Two Cities shows the struggles of two cities during this stressful time period, but if the reader looks closer they can see that it is truly about the class struggle and the vengeance of repressed people in London and Paris. A Tale of Two Cities A Tale of Two Cities is not just about the struggles of Paris and London, during the time of the French Revolution. It is also about the social injustice and the struggle for class vengeance. One character, Madame Defarge, is tied into all of this. This stern, bitter woman has a loathing monster in her soul. Towards the end of the book, the reader discovers why she is so resentful of the upper class. Nevertheless, in the beginning of the book the reader ascertains that Dickens takes a side; he considers the rebels little better than savages. Dickens, to show how cruel the aristocrats had been, has Monsiegneur momentarily stop and give the father a coin for the loss of his son. The working class of France was abused and demanded vengeance. But soon, paradoxically, the commoners are in charge. Social injustice again spreads, like a disease, to everyone. The tables are turned and now the criminals are the jailers and the jailers are the criminals. Even the innocent workers of the aristocrats are imprisoned. The lower class goes so far with vengeance that they lose sight of the main goal, to stopping injustice. Again the innocent are victimized, such as the poor woman behind Sydney Carton on his way to the La Guillotine. Furthermore, even those who disavow their family are punished. This is the situation of Charles Darnay who is being punished for his family crimes. Soon it is the aristocrats who are dealing with a class struggle of their own. At a glance, A Tale of Two Cities shows the struggles of two cities during this stressful time period, but if the reader looks closer they can see that it is truly about the class struggle and the vengeance of repressed people in London and Paris.
