Albeit various researchers have pointed out the benefits accruing from the smartphone technology, there has been criticism on the negative impact of this technology to the society. According to Cornell, high cost, distraction, typing difficulty and compromised data security are among the limitations of smartphones. Putzer and Park (16) cite users’ discontent wi th smaller screen sizes of smartphones which jeopardizes readability. According to Ullman, the Internet has created â€Å"a world of little wordless pictograms† (640). ... Its popularity keeps rising with Evans projecting sales of over a billion smartphones in 2013.With a constant upgrade of its capabilities, smartphones will continue taking over markets initially dominated by other mobile computing devices such as tablets.
